Chapter 7

What motivates Enrique to stay in the United States? What things make him wish to return to Honduras?
Enrique gets motivated to stay in the United States to be able to have enough money to send his daughter and to make a house in Honduras. He also wants to return to Honduras to see his daughter and be wiht his girlfriend.

What factors cause conflict between Enrique and Lourdes? How do they seek to overcome these factors?
Enrique and Lourdes get into fights about his drinking and his drugs. Enique eventually moves out because they are fighting too much. I think that was his way of saying he did not want to fight anymore.

Contrast Enrique’s life in the United States with the life he left behind.
In Honduras Enrique would always be out getting in trouble. He would be sniffing glue and doing bad things. He really did not care for anyone. Now that he is in the U.S I think that it has helped him mature. He thinks more of his family and he gets to drive. Back there he could not even afford a car. He had nothing in Honduras.

How do you feel when Maria Isabel leaves Honduras?
When Maria Isabela leaves Honduras it is so sad it make sme feel even sadder because Jasmin, her daugheter has no idea that she wont see her mother for very long, if at all.

Once reunited, how do Enrique and his mother get along?
They starated to get along like in the beggining. They were happy togheter but i think that there will always be taht resentment towards his mother.

How does Enrique’s relationship with Maria Isabel progress?
Maria Isabela and Enrique's relationship gets better. He treates her good and shows how much he loves her.

What conflicts arise between Maria Isabel and Enrique’s family?
Maria Isabela and Enriques family do not get along. They dont think that she has been a good mother.

How does the book end as it began?
The book ends the same way it began, a mother having to leave a young child behind in hopes the child will have a better future.
