Video Reflection
After taking the test I feel like it is kind of hard. I am taking Civics and don’t know some of the things that the test asks. I don’t know how they expect immigrants to be able to know the answer to these questions. I guess that these people have to study really hard if they want to get their citizenship. I did not pass this test so I don’t know what to say about it. I guess people really don’t want any immigrants because it is hard. I personally think that 60% is a low number but the questions are kind of hard. Some of the questions I kind of forgot in the spot. I think that the video is inspiring because it shows how much you can achieve and how much you will gain by being a citizen. I think that they should give classes and stuff because how else are all of the immigrants supposed to learn this.

Prediction Potluck
Para 1 After reading today’s chapter my potluck prediction was right because in the beginning Enrique does start doing even more drugs. He does glue, which was his lowest point. He does this until he realizes that his body cant take anymore. Then he gets his act togheter. He starts working all week, he doesnt go out and he drinks way less. He saves up more money and he moves out. Another reason for this change was his daugher, Jasmin. He doesnt want to do the same thing his mother did to him.
Para 2 In this chapter everything mostly takes place in North Carolina where Enrique lives. He spends most of his time at his mom's house. The main people involved were Lourdes, she fought a lot with Enrique. This forced him to get out of his house a lot and drink. Their fights finally caused Enrique to leave and move out with other people. Also Lourdes' boyfriends son was involved. the young boy lived with Enrique and they started drinking. Maria Isabela and Enrique were drifting apart. They were really not talking to each other and it sometimes makes Enrique think that there was someone else.
Para 3 In the beggining of the story Enrique is fighting wiht his Mother like always. He starts stayin in his room and doing drugs. He starts doing glue. In the middle of the story, he realized that he is messing up his life and he could have saved enough money to bring his girl and his daugher home. He starts working more, seven days a week. He doesnt drink as much and he doesnt go out. At the end of the reading we read about how Maria Isabela and Enrique are falling apart. They are talking less. Maria Isabela in a way thinks that Enrique is not coming back becasue he calls less. They are slowly drifting apart. Soon she doesn't even wonder why he has not called.

Chapter 7
What motivates Enrique to stay in the United States? What things make him wish to return to Honduras?
Enrique gets motivated to stay in the United States to be able to have enough money to send his daughter and to make a house in Honduras. He also wants to return to Honduras to see his daughter and be wiht his girlfriend.
What factors cause conflict between Enrique and Lourdes? How do they seek to overcome these factors?
Enrique and Lourdes get into fights about his drinking and his drugs. Enique eventually moves out because they are fighting too much. I think that was his way of saying he did not want to fight anymore.
Contrast Enrique’s life in the United States with the life he left behind.
In Honduras Enrique would always be out getting in trouble. He would be sniffing glue and doing bad things. He really did not care for anyone. Now that he is in the U.S I think that it has helped him mature. He thinks more of his family and he gets to drive. Back there he could not even afford a car. He had nothing in Honduras.
How do you feel when Maria Isabel leaves Honduras?
When Maria Isabela leaves Honduras it is so sad it make sme feel even sadder because Jasmin, her daugheter has no idea that she wont see her mother for very long, if at all.
Once reunited, how do Enrique and his mother get along?
They starated to get along like in the beggining. They were happy togheter but i think that there will always be taht resentment towards his mother.
How does Enrique’s relationship with Maria Isabel progress?
Maria Isabela and Enrique's relationship gets better. He treates her good and shows how much he loves her.
What conflicts arise between Maria Isabel and Enrique’s family?
Maria Isabela and Enriques family do not get along. They dont think that she has been a good mother.
How does the book end as it began?
The book ends the same way it began, a mother having to leave a young child behind in hopes the child will have a better future.

Well Founded Fear
Today’s video was about how many people want to get their citizenship in America because they fear for their lives in their own country. This video showed a man who was in a jail in Albania or something like that I don’t really remember. But the point is he was in the jail and they did not have any food and any place to do their necessities. The man said that he would have to drink water form the toilet. I think that it was pretty bad. He also said that they would not feed him. He also had many injuries. He did not tell one of the ladies that he had drank water from the toilet because he was embarrassed. He felt ashamed and well it is not an easy thing to talk about. There was also this one man that was beaten just because he was Jewish. He feared for his life because it is very dangerous. There was also this one lady that one man took her husbands wife and tortured her and finally killed her. She then feared for her life but they did not give her asylum because they felt like the situation was too long ago and if she goes back they won’t do anything to her. Many other people also were politically involved in organizations. There are many reasons why people want asylum. I think that it is a though decision to make and I would not like to be in that position. Because in the end who are they to decide if their story is tragic enough for them to get asylum.

WETBACK DOCUMENTARY
I have watched a documentary on men that have tried to come to the United states form places like Honduras, Nicaragua and many other Central American areas. This documentary informs us about their journey, what they go thru, the things they eat, the struggle and their heart aches as they make this journey. In the documentary it showed many injured men. It showed people that have tried helping them once they were injured or when they needed it. It shows Border Patrol agents and thier views on this issue. There also were some civilians and what they thought about immigration and what they were doing about it. In the end I think that this video helped me better understand the struggles each person goes thru on their journey to America.
In the beggingin the video shows a two men comming form Honduras. They have to immigrate to two different places. It is specially hard for them because not only Americans are hurtful to them, Mexicans are also hurtful. They have to struggle double. When they went in thier journey in the beggening they seemed kind of layed back, very sure of themselve. I thought that it was kind of increadible that they seemed that way becasue well I am pretty sure that they had heard many stories about what happens ove there. Well that is how they were. They had a few things like a backpack i think. Then they said that they jumped into the train with other men. They did not think much of the men becasue they thought that they were also just trying to go to the U.S. Once they were up there, the men than told them to strip and give them all their money. One of the men had his money in his pants, they were hidden. But surprisingly they found it. The other guy had his money in his private parts and the men still found it. I think that it is so curel how they rob form the porest people. They did not do anything to them. What i also hate is that you cant even trust the police. They wont all help you some of them even hurt you. In the end of the video it said both of the men went backto Honduras. One of them got his job back and the other did not.
There was this one story that really made me very sad. I dont reamember where the lady was comming form but she was injured. She stayed in one of the houses were they help you out and give you food until you bet better and go on wiht your journey. There are many people in those houses. Well she was very helpful around there, she would cook and clean. The man that was telling her story said that she was a great person. Well he said that one day she thanked him and said that she was going to leave, she wanted to finish her journey, She wanted to reach America. So she left and them months later she called him and told her about her journey. She told him that she did reach America. Once she was in America she felt so happy she could not explain it. But as soon as she stepped into american soil, she heard a man telling her to put her hands in back of ther head and to walk back. It was a border patrol. She told the man that she wanted him to shoot her. She wanted to die in america. She wanted the children she left behind that her mother died in America. She wanted them to know that she had made it. The officer than let her go, he said leave women i have never seen you. the woman was calling the man from a payphone in Amercia.
To me that was a very sad and wonderful story becasue she was willing to die just as long as she dies in america. If many americans heard this story and looked at it in my perspective, they would see that these people risk everything to get a job here. Most of these people worship this nation wile some of our citizens destroy it. It is unbeliveable that they would call these immigrants bad people when some of them are willing to die just so they are able to say that they reached America.

Enrique finally reunites with his mother on May 28th @ 8:00 am.
In what state does Enrique ultimately reunite with his mother?
Enrique finally meets his mother in North Carolina.
On November 2, 2000, another significant event happens to Enrique. What is it?
That day his daughter, Katerine Jasmin is born.
Contrast the sides of the Rio Grande. What is Enrique’s life like on his side of the river that in Mexico is called Rio Bravo?
Well on the one side of the river, in Mexico he has to be very carefully. anyone could harm him and he has to work a lot for a little money, he doesn't have anything and he is always scared, hungry and tired. On the other side, he is somewhat safe.
Describe Enrique’s final journey into the United States.
Enrique had to go across the river with El Tirindaro and they had to run from the immigration. They needed to hide form them and then Enrique got into a car, they took him into a house so that he could rest and they could wait for the money to arrive.
What problems develop almost immediately when Enrique is reunited with his mother? Do these problems surprise you?
Enrique and his mothers started having problems like every other family. They started arguing about respect and Enrique has a lot of resentment towards his mother because she left him. They started arguing about her right to tell him what to do. These problems surprise me in a way because they started almost immediately. Every family has these problem. I just figured the fact that they are together was more strong than the resentment he felt.
